Bernard Lallement
At the request of the Lallement family, Christiane, our General Secretary, informs us of the sudden death of Bernard, our Honorary President, founder of the Franco-German Choirs and co-founder, with Erik Cummerwie, of our Federation.
Bernard “passed away peacefully last night”, 26 February at the age of 87, as his son tells us. We knew that he had been weakened by health problems for some time, but he had made great progress which gave us great hope. He was even planning, as always very unreasonable, to come to Cologne for our general assembly on 3, 4 and 5 March. But he was very unhappy and had to agree that his doctors were not wrong to oppose it… Still fighting, although overwhelmed with sadness at having lost Erik, just one year ago.
Here they are again, the two friends and accomplices…
He leaves us his innumerable harmonisations of popular songs from all regions and all countries as well as his great compositions such as the Missa Galica or the Cantata for Peace, to name but a few.
It is with infinite sadness that we address you these words, which are more personal than official. The Federation remains in mourning.
