2020, the revival of Eurochorus

Jacques Michel, a leading figure in the Toulouse choral scene, tragically passed away on 26 October 2019.

It was his idea and with his help that Eurochorus was created in 2005; he was its artistic director and then its president from 2015 onwards. One need only look at the archives on this website to see the beautiful works that have been staged with consistently significant and well-deserved success at concerts, thanks to the immense talent of the conductors Jacques invited, many of whom came from the Federation of Franco-German Choirs, of which Eurochorus is a member.

However, despite this undeniable success, the last two sessions (2018 and 2019) had to be cancelled due to an imbalance in the number of participants.

Not wanting to let this wonderful concept die, Jacques had the idea of putting it at the service of the choir directors of the CFA Federation by making it mobile – in terms of dates and locations – and available to them for organising workshops. Thus, in his words, ‘the revival of Eurochorus’ was born.

Unfortunately, circumstances prevented him from seeing this revival come to fruition. However, with his charisma and all the energy he was able to instil, the Toulouse team, supported by a few members of the CFA Federation’s board, decided to continue his work and actively prepare for the first session of this ‘revival’, which will take place in October 2020 in Paris under the direction of Emmanuel Berenz, the new conductor of the CFA in the capital.
